The Five Satins’ “In The Still Of The Night” was a moderate hit when it was first released, but it started getting considerable airplay over the years. Now it is referred to as one of the best doo-woop songs in the world. Many artists have made their own rendition of the song, including the likes of Debbie Gibson and Boyz II Men.
The song has also been featured in several movies. “Sweet Beat” was one of them. The clip below shows us a live excerpt from this very film. The song became even more famous when it was featured on the 1987 soundtrack for “Dirty Dancing”. In 2010, The Rolling Stones ranked it on the 90th spot on their list of Top 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. A fun fact about this song is that it was written in 1955 by Parris inside the basement of a local church, and recorded by his group a year later.
